
The Minimally Invasive Neurosurgical Society (MINS), holds its 15th Annual MINS Conference at the Los Sueños Marriott Resort Herradura, Costa Rica, from March 12-14, 2026, honoring Luiz Pimenta, MD, PhD, with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
The three day conference, which is held at Los Sueños Marriott Resort in Herradura, Costa Rica, will host many educational lectures on topics such as Evolution of the Lateral Approach, Operative Nuances to Endoscopic Spine Surgery, and Minimally Invasive Expandable Interbody Technique and Technology.
The keynote speaker for Thursday, March 12 is Luiz Pimenta, MD, PhD. Dr. Pimenta is considered the father of the lateral or XLIF approach to the spine. He introduced this approach to spine surgery to help preserve the normal anatomical structures of the spine while performing spinal fusion and instrumentation. The approach has been adapted for spinal arthroplasty. He has evolved the procedure to include the prone-transpsoas approach.
In addition, the keynote speaker for Friday, March 13, is Sam Trull, Co-founder and Executive Director of the Sloth Institute in Costa Rica.
The Minimally Invasive Neurosurgical Society (MINS) was established to promote minimally invasive neurosurgery that improves patient outcomes. The goal of MINS is to provide a forum for neurosurgical education, training, case discussion and research on minimally invasive neurosurgical techniques.
